Job Details Full-timeEstimated: $53,000 – $71,000 a year3 hours ago Qualifications – Laboratory experience – Mammalian cell culture – R – Data analysis skills – Python – Bachelor’s degree Full Job Description The Erle lab at UCSF is seeking a Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) interested in studying airway epithelial cell biology and its relevance to various diseases. The SRA I will join a team of scientists conducting experiments central to the lab’s research efforts in investigating airway epithelial cell and molecular biology. This individual will contribute to research projects by generating datasets and testing hypotheses using methods established in the lab including primary human cell culture, flow cytometry, gene targeting using CRISPR-Cas9 and gene expression analysis. The SRA I will work closely with other experienced lab members, develop itional research skills, and contribute to development of new research directions in the lab. The Erle lab is currently based at the Mission Bay campus, but will be relocating to Parnassus mid-2021. Department Description The Lung Biology Center (LBC) is a research division in the Department of Medicine (DOM) at UCSF. Its mission is to study important questions about diseases of the lung and airways through cellular and molecular biology. The division has facilities and faculty at the Mission Bay Campus and the San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) Medical Center campus. Required Qualifications – BA/BS degree in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, basic techniques or methods required by the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience – Completed college-level coursework in biology, biochemistry, physics, microbiology/immunology – Has formulated and performed at least one independent research project (e.g., as a college-level independent study project) – Some laboratory experience (may be that which is acquired while in school beyond that obtained through a lab course) – Experience with nucleic acid isolation and quantification (may be that which is acquired while in school) – Experience with scientific data analysis, including use of R or Python (may be that which is acquired while in school) Preferred Qualifications Experience in (may be that which is acquired while in school): – Mammalian cell culture – Flow cytometry – Tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry – PCR About UCSF The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
