DESCRIPTION =========== The incumbent will work under the supervision of the PI and direct other researchers in the optimization of the mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography equipment utilized by the lab as well as performing experiments utilizing this equipment. The incumbent will also perform independent experiments including kinase assays and immunoblotting. The incumbent will independently perform mammalian and bacterial cell culture. The incumbent will assist with equipment maintenance, and assist lab personnel in routine tasks to keep the research lab in smooth working order. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ====================== * Theoretical knowledge in natural, physical or social sciences or a related science generally acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferably two (2) years of research experience. * Demonstrated ability to direct mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography experiments * Ability to independently perform basic aseptic and tissue culture techniques. * Proven ability to use basic laboratory equipment including centrifuges, spectrophotometers, balances, pH meters, and electrophoresis equipment. * Strong organizational skills to maintain lab reagents and supplies. * Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques. * Familiarity with proper handling of chemical and biohazard materials. * Ability to read, comprehend, discuss, and present research materials. * Ability to follow written and verbal protocols, techniques, and instructions and to keep organized and accurate records and notebooks. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills over a wide range of situations and individuals needed to interact professionally and effectively in the work environment in person, on phone, and in writing to diverse population. * Proficient experience with the operation of a personal computer and software applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ======================== * Experience working within a Pathology department.
