Job Summary Job Description The Supplier Quality Engineer drives supplier development activities primarily for FLIR’s Machined Parts supply base. Performs tasks to assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Supplier Development Program. This includes supplier selection, qualification, quality and delivery measurements, corrective action implementation, non-conforming material disposition and day-to-day interaction of Incoming Inspection activities. Responsible for assuring quality standards are met by suppliers in all facets of production, inspection, and value-add service for products received. Primary Duties & Responsibilities – Lead all supplier Quality communication between FLIR and Suppliers. – Brings supplier related issues to resolution, establishing proven containment and corrective/preventative action. – Issue Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) when needed. Review and approve supplier root cause, corrective actions/preventive actions. – Drive & report on Supplier Quality metrics. – Conduct on-site ISO and process supplier audits. – Works closely in a team environment on common goals to prevent supplier related defects in the manufacturing. – Review Quality Control Plan from the supplier confirming it will successfully meet FLIR’s expectation for quality, reliability standards and on time delivery. – Creates receiving inspection plans and other quality functions in SAP and assists inspectors with receiving inspection. – Review & approve First Article Inspection (FAI) reports from suppliers. – Attend daily production meetings and provide supplier quality updates. Job Qualifications – Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce. – Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field required. – Knowledge of both high volume and low volume Machine Shop production processes and requirements, including Just in Time (JIT) and First In First Out (FIFO) requirements highly preferred. – Working knowledge of ISO 9001 System and LEAN & Six Sigma tools preferred. – Strong verbal and written communication skills, for internal and external communications. – Ability to present formal presentations. – Effective problem-solving skills. – Understand Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA’s), and FAIs. – Experience with reading and interpreting Process Control Plans preferred. – Experience working with Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (R & R) and Inspection Tools preferred. – Knowledge of SAP and ISO Auditor experience a plus. – Post Covid, able and willing to travel locally 20-25% to supplier sites (daytrips).
