The successful candidate will be involved in exciting projects applying cutting edge stem cell technologies, genome editing and imaging to address this problem. We are looking for a hardworking detail orientated, and focused candidate. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required. Experimental experience in stem cell culture and differentiation and molecular biology is beneficial. While most time will be dedicated to hands-on laboratory activities, duties will also include assisting postdoctoral fellows performing various procedures, ordering laboratory supplies and helping in maintaining laboratory general organization. A minimum commitment for two years is required. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: We are searching for a talented, highly organized and responsible scientist with strong potential to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will assist with a multi-faceted project that will provide experience in: – Human stem cell culture and characterization – Human stem cell differentiation, including neuronal differentiation and glial differentiation – CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing in human stem cells – High-throughput RNA sequencing Key Duties and Responsibilities: – Maintenance and expansion of human stem cells – Differentiation of human stem cells into glutamatergic neurons, dopaminergic neurons and microglia – Molecular cloning, Maxi-, Mini-prep, PCR – Assist with high-throughput molecular biology and RNA sequencing approaches – Identifies unusual findings and reports such findings to supervisor. – Coordinates schedule of tests and procedures and maintains detailed records of methodologies and results. – Maintain equipment and supplies in a neat, orderly manner. Will share the responsibilities in ordering new equipment and general laboratory supplies such as plastic ware, media, chemicals, etc. – Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. – Assist with different projects and members within the research team. – Assist in the orientation and training of new staff. – Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed. Qualifications – Bachelor of Science degree in a biological science. May consider a bachelor’s degree in another area. – Prior laboratory experience as an undergraduate is essential, preferably more than 1 year of bench/wetlab research experience.
