Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join its Life Sciences business. This opportunity is Hybrid.
The Role
Wood is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Life Sciences (Biotechnology / Pharmaceuticals) team within our Philadelphia, PA or Raleigh, NC offices to develop life-changing and, in many cases, life-saving solutions for our clients. We’re looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with the ability to execute all phases of project design. Project sizes will vary and will include both existing building improvements and new construction.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities
Assist senior mechanical engineers in designing AF&IDs, zoning & pressurization diagrams, HVAC and piping layouts
Actively participate in internal coordination meetings with senior engineers of several disciplines
Optimize and standardize HVAC tools in order to produce design
Maintaining effective communication with project team members and clients
Work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy by a Senior Engineer
Review of submittals and shop drawings
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future.

Expected
At minimum, a current Sophomore, pursuing a BS or MS in chemical / mechanical / bioengineering from an accredited university
Experience within Life Science Industry is preferred
Knowledge of cGMPs is preferred
International experience is preferred
Acceptance of a hybrid working environment (employees can work from home or can choose to come into our center city office)
Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative
Desirable
AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus
