Equine Veterinary Surgeon

P/T Equine Veterinary Surgeon. A role that respects your time and talent.

£40k – £55k Pro Rated – DOE. Based near Leek.

Starting to get itchy feet?

Tempted to move but wary of stepping into another role that overpromises and underdelivers? You’re not alone. This time, though it might be worth taking another look, especially if what you’re after is a genuinely supportive, independent equine practice that values your time, your input, and your life outside work.

This is a small but growing team, based in the beautiful village of Endon near Leek, with the Peak District on the doorstep and Stoke-on-Trent just down the road. It’s the kind of place where you can be surrounded by countryside in the morning and nip into town after work. Ideal if you like your weekends active and your commute short.

The practice is proud of offering gold-standard care, but without the burnout. That means no cutting corners, no rushed consults, and no pressure to meet targets that make no sense. Just the space and support to do the job well, with the tools you need and a team you’ll enjoy working with.

They’re looking for someone with around two or more years’ equine experience, who’s happy working independently, but also values collaboration and knows that sometimes the best medicine is a second opinion. You’ll be backed up by experienced vets, and a brilliantly efficient office crew, who keep your day running smoothly.

Equipment includes digital battery-powered x-ray kits, dental power tools, ultrasound, endoscope, gastroscope, and a shockwave machine so you can work up cases properly. The caseload is varied, the clients are loyal, and you’ll have time to build real relationships with both.

They are looking for somebody to work 20- 27 hours a week, but they are flexible to work around you. It’s 8:30–5:30, but most people are heading home around 5. Overtime is paid. There’s a bonus scheme for all staff. And if you go the extra mile, you might just earn yourself an extra day off with the “Employee of the Month” reward.

This is a great fit for someone who likes autonomy but not isolation. Someone who’s kind, curious, and quietly ambitious. Whether you’ve got a special interest you want to explore or just want a place that lets you do your job well and go home on time. you’ll be supported.

This is more than just another vet job, it’s a place to grow your skills, build real connections, and genuinely enjoy coming to work. Whether you're actively looking or just quietly curious about a change, we’d love to have a conversation.

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad, so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Join a team that values you as much as your work

£40000 – £55000/annum CPD, Bonus
