Veterinary Surgeon

Serious About Standards. Big on Balance. Join Our Vet Team. $95k – $130k per annum.

You didn’t become a vet to spend endless time on paperwork, production line consults, or less time with the patient. You did it to make a difference and give back to the industry you love.

Welcome to a friendly, purpose-built clinic near Lake Macquarie, where life outside of work is just as good as the work itself. Whether it’s whale watching in Nelson Bay, beach walks on your lunch break, or simply enjoying a calm, well-supported day with 20-minute consults and no OOH stress, our client has created the kind of practice vets want to stay in.

They are looking for a vet with at least 2 years’ experience who loves animals, values teamwork, and wants to feel supported in their clinical journey. Someone who’s looking for a long-term role in a genuinely kind, community-focused clinic.

The clinic features modern, well-equipped sterile and dental workspaces, with in-house X-ray, ultrasound, and blood diagnostic tools. Their tech is current, standards are high, and they take pride in doing things properly.

No two days are the same, from consults to surgeries with the help of their incredible team, referring cases to their in-house orthopaedic surgeon, spending time with a customer educating them about pet nutrition, or discussing cases over lunch with their team.

They believe in kindness, flexibility, and a team-first culture. No overbooking. No burnout. No late nights. Doing good work with good people. They are also lucky enough to have a qualified dog behaviour specialist on staff, a dedicated HR manager to support your personal needs, and senior vets available to mentor and share their decades of experience.

There is a real ‘family feel,’ here where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. Everyone has a voice, they share opinions, thoughts, case studies, and hold discussions. Your opinion is valued, and your voice is heard.

So, what's in it for you?

* $95,000–$130,000 salary, depending on experience.

* 4-day week + Saturday mornings only.

* 4 weeks annual leave as standard.

* No after-hours – emergencies referred to trusted local partners.

* Senior vet mentoring and ongoing training (plus access to VIN)

* A supportive and experienced nursing and reception team.

* Social events, birthday celebrations, and team lunches.

Let's not forget the location. You’re surrounded by beaches, rainforests, and natural beauty, with great local restaurants, shops, clubs, and gyms nearby. You can shop or hit the surf in your free time, walk in Glenrock State Conservation Area, or head into Sydney for a weekend. Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens are just minutes away.

This is more than a vet role—it’s your ticket to clinical fulfilment, a kind, experienced team, and golden beaches just outside your front door.

So, what’s next?

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad, so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
