Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lab Assistant – 3rd Shift to perform routine laboratory support functions with accuracy and efficiency. This position ensures smooth operations by assisting professional staff, maintaining equipment, and handling specimen processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated equipment.
- Conduct specimen preparation including centrifuging, aliquoting, slide prep, and inoculation.
- Maintain laboratory supplies such as reagents and media.
- Complete QA/QC duties, resolve pending lists, and locate missing samples.
- Perform decontamination of work areas and radioactive wipe tests.
- Manage specimen storage, retrieval, and record-keeping.
- Handle gas cylinder changes and biohazard waste disposal.
- Operate the laboratory computer system and standard PCs.
- Follow all PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations.
- Support training and competency checklist completion.
Required Experience & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant training helpful.
- Math and science coursework preferred.
- No prior laboratory experience required.
Required Skills:
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities.
- Strong retention of learned information.
- Professional and respectful interaction with coworkers and customers.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory operations.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
