- Hours: 40 per week (8 hours/day)
- Days: Monday–Friday
- Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Pay Rate: $30/hr. on W2
Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician ensures the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and quality assurance in sterile processing operations. This role combines hands-on technical responsibilities with detailed inspection and documentation to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance. The focus is on quality assurance beyond standard sterile processing duties, maintaining strict adherence to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, SOPs, and company Work Instructions.
- Decontaminate, disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments.
- Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets.
- Operate washers, sterilizers, and related equipment safely.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage; document issues per SOPs.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory.
- Handle all instruments with care to prevent damage.
- Perform daily computer tasks and paperwork related to processing and tracking.
- Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
- Keep workstations and decontamination areas clean and organized.
- Adhere to quality standards and infection control procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Provide feedback to improve workflow and processes.
- Participate in training to maintain certifications and competencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years hands-on sterile processing experience, including decontamination, assembly, and sterilization.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer IFUs.
- Skill in operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and related equipment.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Basic proficiency with computers and electronic data systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to receive required vaccinations and health screenings.
- Collaborative attitude and professional reliability.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in quality control.
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CRCST, CIS) required.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced, climate-controlled indoor environment.
- Frequent exposure to biohazardous materials and strong odors.
- Moderate noise levels; use of PPE required; standing for extended periods.
