The Fountain Group is currently seeking a ­­­­­­­­Scientist for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in ­­Lake County, IL. Details for the position are as follows:

OPEN TO CANDIDATES WILLING TO RELOCATE AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE

Job Description:

**100% ONSITE: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm**

  • Purpose:
    • Responsible for supporting Process Chemistry and Engineering operations within the Pharmaceutical Products Group – API in Lake County.
    • The Lab Manager / Scientist will work directly with organizing laboratory spaces, managing chemical and equipment inventories, and assisting department chemists in optimizing lab usage.
    • The incumbent should possess working knowledge of laboratory equipment such as HPLC and apply this expertise to maintain efficient laboratory operations and support ongoing research activities
  • Responsibilities:
    • Maintain laboratories in clean, safe, functioning state. Transition the labs to be more efficient using the principles of 5S.
    • Maintain department shared instruments including UPLC's and LCMS's in working order through periodic routine maintenance.
    • Assist in relocation of equipment during ongoing lab renovations.
    • Manage laboratory equipment and chemical inventories including organizing periodic clean-outs.
    • Coordinate routine maintenance of isolators and other potent handling equipment and supplies of personal protective equipment for R14 potent lab.
    • Develop and maintain inventory system and periodic defrost cycles for department freezers.
    • Set up experimental apparatus as necessary
    • With some supervision, perform experiments to assist researchers
    • Create work aids for operating equipment and train new users.
    • Promote and enforce safe work practices in the laboratories.
  • Note:
    • This is a new role.
    • This person will be primarily coordinating maintenance on equipment – maintenance of laboratory operations – coordination of laboratory activities.
    • Very limited execution of experiments (but manager still would like some familiarity with experiments).
    • This person will not actually be calibrating the equipment (more coordination with metrology teams).

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • BS in chemistry or related life science (MS is overqualified)
    • Industrial experience with HPLC (ideally Empower)
    • Familiarity with how to run experiments
    • MS Excel proficiency
    • Must be handy with equipment
    • Safety Oriented | Excellent Written & Oral Communication | Organization | Multitasking
  • Preferred:
    • Empower HPLC
    • 5S lab experience
    • Lab safety walkthroughs
    • Calibration
    • Basic equipment installation and maintenance
    • UPLC, LCMS, GC

Compensation: $30-45 per hour depending on experience
