Company : The Fountain Group LLC

The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Downstream Research Associate for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Oceanside, CA. Details for the position are as follows:

  • Pay: $30-39.57/hr.
  • 10-month assignment with possibility for extension or conversion based on performance and budget.

Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, execute, and analyze experiments supporting protein purification process development and characterization.
  • Select and implement appropriate methods and techniques for assigned experiments.
  • Interpret experimental data, evaluate data quality, and identify anomalies.
  • Recommend alternative approaches and research new techniques; collaborate with senior personnel to solve problems.
  • Participate in group meetings, presenting results, interpretations, and conclusions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, explaining processes and experimental outcomes.
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented, problem-solving environment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including working with highly potent compounds after training.
  • Contribute to technology transfer, regulatory filings, process validation, and characterization reports.

Qualifications:

  • BS /MS in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience (BS) or 0+ years (MS) in biologics purification and process development.
  • Experience with downstream process development: centrifugation, chromatography, filtration (normal/tangential), and virus clearance.
  • Knowledge of protein purification techniques, including conjugation, UF/DF, and chromatography operations.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques such as SEC/HPLC, CE, and HCP testing is a plus.
  • Understanding of cGMPs, scaling up bioprocesses, and technology transfer.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience with multiple modalities (mAbs, bispecifics, fusion proteins, ADCs, virus particles) and expression systems (microbial/mammalian) is advantageous.
