Would you like to work for a leading London based clinical research organisation with a strong pipeline of clinical and laboratory projects?
My client are a leading clinical and laboratory service provider, specialising in a range of therapeutic areas and with the patient at the heart of their research. Using their specialist clinical trial platform, they play a key role in drug and vaccine development and are currently experiencing an impressive period of growth so are investing heavily in their state of the art clinical and laboratory facilities in Central London. As a result, they are looking to expand their laboratory team, through bringing on board an Assay Development Scientist – Virology within their R&D team to lead the technical development of Scientific Assays for laboratory based GCP Studies.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading clinical research organisation within a team of knowledgeable and motivated scientists driving forward the testing of infectious and respiratory disease products in drug discovery and development.
Key Responsibilities of the Assay Development Scientist – Virology will include;
Lead the development and validation of virology and molecular biology assays for new and ongoing clinical studies.
Transfer developed assays from the R&D lab to the operational GCP sample analysis lab.
Provide scientific expertise, training and support to members of the R&D and operational laboratories.
Prepare and review study protocols, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), data and study reports.
Ensure the timely delivery of research projects, updating and presenting key findings to stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation of scientific publications and represent the company at conferences and external meetings.
To be considered for this Assay Development Scientist – Virology vacancy you will need the following skills and experience;
PhD in relevant life science discipline (e.g. Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Virology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Infectious Disease etc.) or equivalent working experience.
Experience of assay development across viral and molecular techniques e.g. Plaque assay, infectivity assay, neutralization assay, ELISPOT, ELISA, Cell Culture, PCR & Cytokine Biomarker analysis.
Strong written skillset in order to prepare technical scientific reports, documents and presentations.
Excellent communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues and key internal and external stakeholders.
The ability to deliver to deadlines and take a proactive approach to problem solving.
Experience working within an industry laboratory / GxP laboratory would be highly beneficial.
