Description of Job duties:

Primary duties include running and reviewing chromatographic methods plus assisting in chemical experiments and other laboratory functions. Will be using gas chromatograph, automatic switching valves, ion chromatograph, calibration techniques, data review/reporting programs and GC nomenclature. Also will carry out procedures using advanced chemistry, analytical tasks involving balances, pipettes, chemicals, and syringes. This will include setting up analysis, troubleshooting, calibration, test results interpretation and other duties as assigned. Will be necessary to follow procedures both written and oral. Consistency, follow through and communication with institute scientists essential. Demanding fast paced environment. Should be able to work with minimal amount of supervision after training is complete the job objectives. Help maintain both gases and laboratory supplies. Prior instrumental chromatography and when chemistry experience is required. Must be able to work after hours and possible shift work on days and nights not graveyard shifts.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

BS is Chemistry is required with a 3.0 GPA and a science background

Knowledge of advanced laboratory skills and safety procedures

Prior chromatographic and wet chemistry experience is required

Shift work maybe required

Minimum of 1-4 year of experience or less than a year with a Master’s degree

MVR is required

Physical Requirements:

Will work with chemicals and be required to stand for extended periods of time

Part of the work is “plant like ” atmosphere and some limited work may be done outside

Must have to change gas cylinders

Shift work necessary when required

Dress Code: Slacks, shirts with sleeves

8-10 hour shift work on Days and Evening shifts based on availably
