Chemist I
Location: Clark, NJ
Pay: $22.79/hr
Duration: 6-month contract with possibility of extension pending budget and performance
Job description
We are seeking a Chemist I to support the physicochemical characterization and performance evaluation of hair care and cosmetic products. This role involves conducting laboratory testing, stability studies, formulation batching support, and performance assessments using established analytical methods. The candidate will maintain characterization records, support in-vitro experiments, evaluate product stability and viscosity, explore new characterization methods, and ensure complete traceability of samples and test results throughout the laboratory workflow.
Required skills
- Experience with physicochemical characterization of cosmetic, personal care, paint, food, or related products
- Stability testing and stability record management
- Cosmetic or related product batching experience
- Microscopy analysis
- Rheology and viscosity testing
- pH measurement and analysis
- Design of Experiments (DOE) support for formulation evaluation
- Laboratory-based technical research experience
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Diploma/Certification in Quality Control, Physical Measurements, Physical Sciences, or a related field
Preferred skills
- Experience with foam analysis techniques
- Experience using viscometers and rheometers
- Familiarity with batching equipment such as Olsa, Disconti, and Silverson systems
- Experience developing or implementing new formula characterization methods
- Experience with in-vitro testing methodologies
