Compensation: $20-$24/HR
Summary:
We are currently seeking a Chemist I to join our Quality team in a fast-paced, collaborative laboratory environment. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are passionate about analytical chemistry and quality assurance in the food, flavor, fragrance, or pharmaceutical industries. The Chemist I will be responsible for conducting analytical testing, evaluating data to make pass/fail decisions, and generating documentation that supports product quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical evaluations of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products
- Make informed pass/fail and risk-based usage decisions based on test results and non-conformances
- Generate accurate analytical documentation and reports
- Support quality improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality teams, vendor quality, and global affiliates
- Utilize instruments such as GCMS, LCMS, and ICPMS, including data interpretation
- Use SAP Quality Management (QM) module for documentation and workflow
- Apply knowledge of GMP, HACCP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain chemical safety and adhere to safe laboratory practices
Success Measures:
- High accuracy in quality testing and documentation
- Contributions to quality improvement efforts
- Adoption and promotion of best practices in the lab
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field
- 0–2 years of experience in analytical chemistry within the food, flavor, fragrance, or pharma industries
- Understanding of supply chain processes and quality systems
Preferred Competencies:
- Strong time management, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Technical proficiency with lab instrumentation and computer systems (Excel, Word)
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a dynamic environment
- Functional knowledge of allergens, contaminants, and regulatory declarations
- Fluent in English with effective communication across global teams
Additional Information:
- Must be familiar with project and people management concepts
- Requires manager approval for any procedural task changes
- Encouraged to provide feedback, promote collaboration, and support continuous improvement
