Job Description:

Pay Range: $50hr – $55hr

Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs moderate to highly complex clinical tests following established procedures and policies.
  • Prepares and oversees preparation of reagents/media, stock solutions, standards, and controls.
  • Evaluates the acceptability of specimens for testing.
  • Calculates and enters results accurately using manual or computerized procedures.
  • Evaluates test results and releases patient reports.
  • Takes action on critical/unusual results and documents follow-up.
  • Conducts maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Performs linearity, accuracy, and precision checks.
  • Executes Quality Control and calibration, evaluating results before releasing.
  • Selects and evaluates control materials; initiates corrective actions when needed.
  • Accurately records proficiency testing results.
  • Detects and resolves technical and operational problems; escalates when necessary.
  • Maintains accurate labeling and inventory of reagents/supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and leadership.
  • Participates in meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supports training and supervision of unlicensed personnel.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements for California CLS licensure.
  • Adheres to all safety, environmental, and infection control protocols.
  • Handles waste disposal according to guidelines.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience:

  • 0 3 years of direct experience in a clinical laboratory setting (XX based on experience).

Physical and Mental Requirements( Due to the nature of the job):

  • Frequent lifting of 1 10 lbs; occasional lifting of 11 25 lbs; rare lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Frequent repetitive motions, reaching, fine manipulation.
  • Prolonged sitting and/or standing.
  • Requires good eye-hand coordination.
  • Color vision test required for applicable technical functions.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong typing skills; automation knowledge is a plus.

Education and Licensure:

  • BS in Medical Technology or life/physical sciences from an accredited institution Required
  • Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license Required
