Job Description –
The KEY are the SKILLS to qualify. HIGHLY skilled in Data Warehouse testing using MDM and performing ETL using SQL along with testing API's.
Position Summary
The Data Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ETL process Data testing within Master Data Management (MDM) system, Data Warehouse, as well as Data Analytics.
The successful candidate will deeply understand the needs of the organization and determine how to best test modeled data, as well as maintain and improve the health of our existing data warehouse objects and ETL processes. Data Quality engineer is responsible for planning and executing manual and automated testing activities on new and existing products to ensure that they meet the Business, Functional and Technical specifications and maintain high overall product quality.
The Data Quality Assurance Engineer must be an advocate for all things Testing and Quality while driving and implementing best practices and must possess strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

Key Responsibilities
• Constantly develop a deeper understanding of available data.
• Work to understand multiple operational departments and how data is captured and used within the organization.
• Become an expert in business rules, system functionality and architecture.
• Understand the current state to develop and/or enhance the data quality framework to support the Data Architecture and Data Analytics teams.
• Aptitude to evolve the current data quality processes into an enterprise data quality practice.
• Write complex SQL queries for source and target systems to verify the data for the ETL processes.
• Review business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, design, and architecture documents to create effective test plans for both ETL and data migration activities providing robust coverage
• Independently develop, modify, and execute test plans based on requirements and design documents including, but not limited to, the following methods:
o Load balance testing
o Duplicate run testing
o Negative testing with invalid test data
o Performance/volume testing
o Build and execute regression test scenarios
• Provide estimates and timeframe necessary for testing a project to ensure a high-quality implementation.
• Participate in data migration testing activities, including data validation, integrity checks, and reconciliation across source and target systems.
• Contribute to and maintain project documentation
• Identify, report and track defects and User Experience issues through a system of record.
• Collaborate with external teams on root cause analysis.
• Maintain close interaction with business and technical peers during the project life cycle.
• Actively participate in requirements and code reviews.
• Actively participate and drive improvements in Agile Scrum delivery.
• Be a thought leader in the test design and execution arena (manual and automated).
• Identify process bottlenecks and suggest improvement actions.
• Creation and input of test data, either manually or by using tools, programs or masked production data to execute test cases.

REQUIRED SKILLS – provide # of years and list anything lacking to qualify
- Advanced SQL / relational DB expertise (SQL Server required; Oracle and Postgres familiarity) — needed to query, validate, diagnose data issues and support DB-heavy testing across Velocity and MDM.
- MDM domain skills (data analysis, modeling, entity relationships, mismatch detection) — essential for understanding data flows, identifying defects, and performing master-data-specific testing.
- Test automation & scripting fundamentals (Python, VS/VS Code)
- Working in CICD using Git/GitHub or similar (list tools used)
- API testing: Highly automated. Teams working on API testing are described as "pretty advanced in automation. — required to work with existing automation utilities, extend frameworks, and deliver repeatable, scalable testing
- Domain/background: Healthcare/insurance experience is a plus but not required; emphasis on ability to analyze data relationships and identify mismatches/flows.
- – Overall maturity: Mixed — strong maturity for API automation, moderate for web/UI, and nascent but rapidly developing for data/MDM automation (frameworks exist but coverage is still growing).
– Seniority: ~5–8 years experience; not entry level; able to take initiative and work independently.
– Core technical skills:
– Strong relational DB skills: advanced SQL on SQL Server (must), Oracle (SQL Developer), and Postgres familiarity.
– Basic scripting/automation experience: Python, Visual Studio / VS Code, and GitHub.
– API, web, and UI testing experience (especially API testing).
– Domain/background: Healthcare/insurance/financial experience is a plus but not required; emphasis on ability to analyze data relationships and identify mismatches/flows.
– Engagement: Will be dedicated to the Velocity project (full-time on Velocity).
– Other: Expected to ramp quickly and be able to extend/expand existing automation frameworks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Qualifications.
• Must have experience with dimensional databases.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift, MPP Databases, or other cloud warehouses.
• Hands-on experience with Hex, Tableau, PowerBI or other analytics applications is a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience validating End User reports.
• Hands-on experience in ETL process testing is a must.
• Strong hands-on experience using complex sql queries for results validation, data mining and evaluating foreign key dependencies.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and support external teams in development of resolutions.
• Hands-on experience with one or more scripting languages (C#, Python, JS, PowerShell, etc.) is a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience in Regression Test Strategies, Regression suite maintenance and execution.
• Hands-on experience with Coda or SSIS packages is a strong plus.

Business Challenge
V3/V3locity is the main intake system for the health and pension funds. All of the employer/member records are stored there and they use it for billing. It feeds a lot of their other systems. It's super niche for this industry. It is a transition from the system V3 to V3locity (the cloud-based version of the tool). It is managed by a vendor called Vitech. It is all hands on deck and a big project.
