Job Title: Data Scientist / AI-ML Engineer
Role Type: Contract
Duration: 12 Months
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid occasional onsite)
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist / AI-ML Engineer to join a high-impact team working with large-scale enterprise data (100TB+). This role focuses on building and deploying AI/ML and Generative AI solutions to drive insights, automate document processing, and enhance decision-making in a highly regulated environment.
This is a foundational role, where you will help establish MLOps practices, GenAI frameworks, and production AI capabilities from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
Consulting & Enablement (50%)
- Partner with business teams to design and implement AI/ML solutions
- Recommend modeling approaches (RAG, anomaly detection, document understanding)
- Translate business problems into scalable ML solutions
- Provide guidance on AI/ML architecture and best practices
- Train stakeholders on AI/ML concepts and usage
Model Development (25%)
- Build and deploy production-ready AI/ML models
- Develop RAG / knowledge-based systems
- Create reusable Generative AI frameworks
- Work with tools such as AWS (SageMaker, Bedrock), Databricks, PySpark
- Ensure model explainability for regulated environments
MLOps & Support (25%)
- Establish and maintain MLOps frameworks and pipelines
- Monitor model performance (accuracy, latency, cost)
- Troubleshoot and resolve AI/ML issues
- Support production systems and ongoing improvements
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in Data Science / ML / AI roles
- Proven experience building and deploying ML/AI models in production
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with ML frameworks ( scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face)
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and RAG architectures
- Experience working with unstructured data / document processing
- Familiarity with AWS AI/ML services (SageMaker, Bedrock preferred)
- Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Databricks, PySpark, and modern data platforms
- Exposure to MLOps, model deployment, and monitoring frameworks
- Experience working in regulated environments
- Familiarity with data governance tools and modern data architectures
