Position Overview:
Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our growing Cincinnati team. This role is ideal for candidates with 2–5 years of environmental field experience as well as recent graduates with relevant environmental internship experience who are eager to build a long-term career in consulting. .
Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
As an Environmental Scientist, you will support environmental assessments, field investigations, and reporting efforts, including:

Conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)

Collecting soil, groundwater, vapor, and environmental samples
-
Supporting GPS data collection and field mapping (preferred, not required)

Assisting with field documentation, data management, and photo logs
-
Preparing technical reports, tables, and project documentation
-
Coordinating with project managers and field teams to meet project schedules
-
Following all safety protocols and quality standards

Qualifications:

What We’re Looking ForRequired / Preferred Qualifications

2–5 years of relevant environmental field experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field with internship experience -
Experience or exposure to:
-
Phase I & II ESAs
-
Soil and groundwater sampling
-
Environmental field documentation and reporting
-
-
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry, reporting tools)
-
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift field equipment
-
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
Preferred (Not Required)

HAZWOPER certification
-
GPS field data collection experience
-
Vapor sampling experience
-
Wetland delineation experience
-
Asbestos inspection or survey experience

Travel Requirements:
- Approximately 40% field work and 60% office work.

May be required to drive long distances (hundreds of miles per day) and work occasional overtime or overnight shifts.

Limited regional travel may be required, including some overnight stays.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and noisy environments).

Expect long hours on your feet, repetitive motions, and physically intensive tasks.

Ability to climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, stoop, and work in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics.

Frequent use of PPE

Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
