Emory Medical Laboratory’s mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We’re seeking a Medical Lab Technician I with a background in Core Lab specialties. This individual:
With supervisory oversight, performs various laboratory tests and procedures while adhering to standard operating procedures to assist in the diagnosis, study and treatment, or prevention of disease.
May perform tests in one scientific discipline or perform selected tests in multiple disciplines or areas provided competency is established.
Disciplines may include selected hematological, chemical, histological, immunohematological and microbiological procedures and microscopic evaluations on serum, urine, body fluids, and feces.
May assist in setting up new equipment.
Prepares reagents as needed.
Performs inventory and assists in ordering lab supplies.
Responsible for quality control.
Evaluates the validity of test results; compares them to previous results and other laboratory data.
Assists in gathering data in preparing reports and to monitor quality improvement standards.
May perform venipuncture as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program or 60 college semester hours including chemistry and 13 months of training in an NAACLS approved program or two years of college and graduation from a 12 month military laboratory training program.
Eligible for certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT), MLT (AAB).
Experience preferred but not required.
Certification must be obtained within 18 months of cumulative employment as a medical laboratory technician.
