Medical Lab Technician
UnityPoint – Allen Hospital
Full-Time Benefit: 1.0 FTE; PM/Fill in nights 1100-2130, 1230-2300; weekend/vacation rotation
Potential Sign On Bonus: $3,000.00 paid over 1 year
The Medical Laboratory Technician position is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses in the hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, chemistry, and microbiology departments in the laboratory. Associate must present record of certification to the Laboratory Director within 1 year of employment and/or within 90 days of expiration of MLT/CLA certification.
The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory testing, laboratory specimen collection and is responsible for quality control and regular maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Qualifies as testing personnel under Federal Register 493.1489

Responsibilities:
Performs routine lab testing in hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, chemistry and microbiology departments following proper laboratory procedure and follow up of critical lab values
Performs and verifies quality control and instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
Collect, receive and process laboratory samples and sendouts following proper laboratory procedures
Perform inventory management and other miscellaneous tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
or
Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
MLT/CLA-ASCP (non regulatory)
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser
