NPD Manager - Laundry / Household

New Product Development Manager – Laundry & Household

Location: Redditch

Salary: £50-55k

Our client is a leading FMCG company that develops and manufactures a range of innovative household cleaning products. With a strong NPD portfolio and increasing sales across a range of household and laundry products they are now looking to recruit a New Product Development Manager reporting to the Technical Director. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing experience in product development / formulation.

In this role you will manage a small team of talented Development Chemists who are focused on developing new laundry and household cleaning products for both brand and retailer own brand ranges. You will be expected to ensure the successful delivery of NPD/EPD projects to an agreed brief consistently demonstrating a high level of project management skill in terms of planning, prioritising, tracking, budgeting and communication. You should have a passion for producing high-quality functional products.

Further responsibilities will include:

Ensure all on pack claims are justified using agreed industry and regulatory standards.

Ensure that MSDS, COSHH data and SOP’s are available before any technical product development task is undertaken in the lab. Review and update process and procedures in line with regulation.

Ensure all appropriate documentation is in place prior to the manufacture of any product. Liaise with Manufacturing and Quality Control gaining approval and support for any manufacturing and QC process or standard. Update any changes post-trial and ahead of first production.

Proactively provide solutions to issues which may arise during the development process and/or in pilot plant manufacturing.

Provide action plans for continuous product and process improvement. Regularly review formulation costs setting this in context with external benchmark product.

Using market understanding, identify new product opportunities and present any opportunity to the commercial team.

Candidate:

5+ years of experience with relevant product development, ideally gained from working within the FMCG, household, chemical, detergent, laundry or personal care product area.

Chemistry degree or related subject and proven experience in product formulation, regulatory affairs and/or technical service within the consumer chemicals, household cleaning or personal care product sector.

Excellent understanding of the product evaluation processes required to qualify on pack claims.

Experience of scale-up, manufacturing trials, and product commercialisation preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Able to use initiative and to meet deadlines while being adaptable to cope with changes in priorities and interruptions.

Good understanding of the regulatory environment and standards including CLP, REACH, Detergent Regulations, COSHH, and BPR.

Must be proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Word software

£50000 – £55000/annum £50-55k plus benefits
