Occupational Therapist

Senior Occupational Therapist – Central London

Salary: Up to £46,500 per annum (DOE)

Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours

Location: St John’s Wood, Central London

Start: ASAP

Trident Healthcare are seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Therapies Team at a leading private hospital in St John’s Wood. This award‑winning independent hospital is located just minutes from the Jubilee Line and has recently been rated number one in the UK for patient care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits support the on‑site St John’s Hospice, providing free, high‑quality palliative care to the local community.

The Role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will work as an autonomous practitioner, delivering high‑quality clinical care across a varied caseload of inpatients and outpatients, including those with complex needs. You will provide specialist assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation, ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and evidence‑based therapy.

You will also play a key role in the development of the Occupational Therapy service, contributing to service improvement, supervising junior staff, and participating in research, audit, and in‑service training.

The Inpatient Therapies Team delivers specialist assessment and treatment to patients across the wards, supported by strong governance, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.

About You

You will be a motivated, compassionate clinician with strong clinical reasoning and excellent communication skills. You should have:

BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)

HCPC registration

Evidence of ongoing professional development

Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings

Experience managing complex patients

Strong MDT working skills

Experience at Band 6 level (desirable)

Experience teaching or supervising others (desirable)

Postgraduate training or intention to study at Master’s level (desirable)

Key Responsibilities

Manage and prioritise your own specialist caseload effectively

Complete comprehensive assessments and deliver tailored interventions

Provide evidence‑based advice to patients, carers, and clinicians

Use advanced communication skills in sensitive or complex situations

Contribute to discharge planning and MDT discussions

Maintain accurate, professional documentation and clinical records

Provide specialist advice in ward rounds, MDT meetings, and family meetings

Train colleagues in the safe use of relevant equipment

Participate in audits, service development, and quality improvement

Ensure all practice aligns with HCPC standards and hospital policies
