- This contract Process Development Scientist/Engineer position is in the Process Development and Technology department.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for study execution at bench-scale and pilot-scale related to manufacturing support and process transfer projects.
- Responsibilities include cGMP documentation, data review, and writing technical documents.
- The incumbent will be expected to work effectively under general supervision and contribute to the team effort to support R&D projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- The individual will perform protein purification techniques including but not limited to precipitation, chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and filtration.
- The candidate will perform accurate technical/cGXP documentation of activities and analyze / interpret analytical results.
- The candidate will need strong technical writing skill to author study protocols and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment.
- Ability to work well both independently and under direct supervision with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet targeted deadlines.
- Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail.
- Experience identifying and solving technical problem.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- The candidate must have experience in protein purification techniques at bench-scale and/or pilot scale processes.
- Degree must be within a relevant field: (Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Biology) Bachelors or Masters degree with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience. Directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
- Work is performed in a laboratory and pilot-scale production environment.
- Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.
- Exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Exposure to chemicals.
- Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.
- Frequently sits and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day.
- May stand and twist neck for 2-4 hours per day. Occasionally walks, bends and twists waist and squats.
- Moderate lifting of 25-50 lbs. May reach above and below shoulder height.
