Core Responsibilities
Coordinates all planning, execution, and recap functions involved in testing and injecting quality safeguards into the development and deployment of software applications. This individual may direct other QA professionals or may be the sole resource on an effort. They are responsible for fostering collaboration and cooperation with the greater project team in the pursuit of delivering a high-quality product.
- Conduct system integration testing and regular regression testing of system functions.
- Collaborate with multiple engineers, testers, and Quality Assurance teams both inside and outside the department.
- Harvest and manage test data.
- Organize and manage disparate systems that interface or have various complex timing, data dependencies, or batch executions.
- Translate design, UX, and requirements into actionable test cases, document how to execute them, and outline prerequisites and test conditions.
- Define and mockup both positive and negative scenarios, as well as work on edge case testing.
- Oversee quality in all phases of the project including requirement review, test script preparation, test execution, and recap.
- Identify gaps and confusions in the user interface and/or the workflow, highlighting risks associated with technical debt, schedule slippage, or other areas of concern to the project team.
- Schedule resources, estimate QA portion of project estimates and forecasts, manage testing needs with Shared Services, manage the PLC tollgates, calculate and manage traceability and test coverage, assist with test result triage, report on overall application/project health, and intercede, when appropriate, with remediation efforts.
- Create a collaborative partnership with the Tech Lead, the PM, the Client, and other project participants, actively engaging in grooming sessions, status meetings, and other project meetings.
- Manage human capital for a specific effort.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Moderate quality assurance experience with solid organizational skills and a basic knowledge of quality assurance practices and methods.
- Understand test automation coverage and guide exploratory testers to fill the gaps.
- Base understanding of an application domain, the release schedule, and the user community, working with other project team members to drive delivery.
- Assess an application's functionality by risk, impact, and importance to prioritize test execution and concentrate test coverage appropriately.
- Proficient in test automation, with Selenium/WebDriver IO scripting experience being a plus.
- 3 to 5 years or more in QA testing roles preferred.
- Experience in Agile teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Jira or other similar tools like Azure DevOps.
- Experience with requirements tracked in Confluence.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills or Experience
- Experience with XRAY (Jira test case tool) is a plus.
- Able to leverage available resources to identify opportunities for automation, service virtualization, and other shared services offered by QA.
