Quality Control Technician – Microbiology

Job Overview
Sigma Systems is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support routine microbiological testing and environmental monitoring activities in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for candidates with microbiology experience, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with aseptic techniques and cleanroom operations.
The Quality Control Technician will perform routine, supervised testing following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine quality control and microbiological testing in accordance with GMP and SOPs

Conduct environmental monitoring (viable and non-viable air and surface sampling) in aseptic manufacturing areas
-
Read and interpret environmental monitoring plates
-
Perform bacterial colony enumeration on agar plates
-
Conduct Gram stain techniques and assist with contaminant identification
-
Enter, track, and maintain test results using LIMS and data management systems
-
Prepare and maintain environmental monitoring supplies and equipment
-
Assist with protocol testing as needed
-
Support media preparation, glassware washing, and autoclave operations
-
Operate assigned laboratory equipment safely and accurately
-
Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards

Order laboratory supplies as required

Collaborate with supervisors and team members on assigned projects
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology (preferred)
-
Associate’s degree or currently pursuing a relevant scientific degree with applicable microbiology experience will be considered
-
1–2 years of microbiology or quality control laboratory experience

Hands-on experience with:
-
Bacterial colony enumeration
-
Gram staining techniques
-
Aseptic techniques and cleanroom operations

Environmental monitoring practices

Ability to meet aseptic gowning qualification standards

Experience working in GMP-regulated environments
-
Familiarity with LIMS systems
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
