ApTask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Research Associate – Biology – II with a technology company. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity with our client located in Foster City, CA. This is an onsite position.
Summary:
This role involves working with a background in immunology to investigate novel approaches for achieving drug-free remission or a cure for HIV infection. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary scientific team focused on rigorously testing and advancing promising therapeutic approaches to the clinic. This position will support in vivo proof-of-concept studies and help improve treatment options for people living with HIV.
Responsibilities:
- Design, validate and perform cell-based immunology and virology assays
- Evaluate new targets and therapeutic approaches for curing HIV
- Support in vivo proof-of-concept studies in models of chronic HIV infection
- Understand properties of the latent HIV reservoir in experimental models and clinical settings
- Interpret results and proactively troubleshoot technical challenges
- Plan and execute experiments that support research activities and project goals
- Operate scientific equipment, selecting appropriate methods and techniques to perform experiments
- Participate and present data in group meetings
Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular and Cell Biology or other related life science discipline
- Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following techniques: immune cell functional assays, multi-color flow cytometry, primary cell isolation and culture, ELISA/Luminex, or molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA isolation, qPCR, cloning and virus production
- Must be able to process data and evaluate data quality, including recognizing anomalous and inconsistent results
- Strong organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Pay range: Up to $50 per Hour
