Job Title: Scientist I
Job Location: Framingham, MA
Job Duration: 12 Months+ Possible Extension
Pay Range: $55 – $60/hr. on w2

Manager Notes:

  • PhD with 0-2 years of relevant experience in Biology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology
  • Master's Degree /Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent industry experience.

Top 3 Required skills:

  • Minimum 1-year experience
  • Cell Culture Tissue Culture Exp/ Mammalian cell culturing – sterile technique, cell counting, passaging, cryopreservation, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow established protocols where available.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Runway, mammalian expression lab experience
  • Mammalian CHO (big bonus to have CHO cell experience!)
  • Soft skills, good communication, Notebooks
  • Gibson assembly, gene editing, CRISPR

Job Responsibilities/Department Description:

  • We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in mammalian cell culture to support research and innovation within our Cell Line Development expression platform.
  • The research focus will center on improving components, methodologies, and platforms used in generating recombinant CHO cell lines expressing complex biologics.

Position Overview/Key Responsibilities

  • Candidates highly experienced in cellular and/or molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in CHO cell biology is highly desired.
  • Design, execute and analyze platform research studies to support process development activities which aim to reduce overall timelines while improving cell line productivity and product quality.
  • Assist in generation of engineered mammalian cell lines (transfection pools, clones) expressing candidate biotherapeutics.
  • Assist in several studies simultaneously to optimize cell line generation processes.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture techniques: sterile technique, cell counting, passaging, cryopreservation, etc.
  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques: DNA plasmid preparation, PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, etc.
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and superb organizational skills, having a proven ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and communicate transversally.
  • Flexibility, adjusting to a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment and willingness to expand and broaden one’s skillset.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and data sets to effectively communicate results, progress and plans.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD with 0-2 years of relevant experience in Biology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology or Master's Degree /Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in suspension culture of CHO cell lines in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of molecular techniques including gene editing, copy number analysis, Gibson assembly etc.
