Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for Band 7 Senior Therapeutic Radiographers to join a busy and well-established Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre within an acute hospital setting in the South West of England. This role is ideal for experienced radiographers looking to step into a senior position within a supportive, forward-thinking clinical environment.
The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering high-quality radiotherapy services, supporting junior staff, and contributing to the safe and effective running of the radiotherapy department.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver highly specialised radiotherapy treatment in line with local and national protocols.
* Act as a senior clinical presence within the radiotherapy unit, providing leadership and day-to-day support to the therapy team.
* Ensure patient care is delivered to the highest standard, maintaining dignity, safety, and compassion at all times.
* Support treatment planning, verification, and delivery using modern radiotherapy techniques and equipment.
* Contribute to clinical governance, risk management, and service improvement initiatives.
* Participate in training, mentoring, and supervision of junior radiographers and students.
* Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary oncology team including oncologists, physicists, nurses, and support staff.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
Person Specification
Essential
* Degree in Therapeutic Radiography (or equivalent).
* HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
* Significant post-qualification experience within a radiotherapy / oncology setting.
* Experience working at senior level or acting up into a Band 7 role.
* Strong clinical knowledge of radiotherapy techniques and patient pathways.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
* Commitment to high standards of patient-centred care and professional practice.
Desirable
* Experience in service development, audit, or quality improvement.
* Previous involvement in staff training or student supervision.
* Experience with modern radiotherapy systems and advanced treatment techniques.
