OVERVIEW
As the Senior Research and Development Scientist for Cereal Partners Worldwide, you will be responsible for the execution of new product strategies, concept development, product formulation, and process development to enable the business to win in the Global marketplace.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to turn possibilities into reality by leveraging your strong technical, influence, and project management skills to support all aspects of the product development cycle that will add value to our brands while collaborating with internal and external business partners to expand new product businesses and make major product improvements.
This Global role is in the CPW organization, which is the 50/50 Joint Venture between Nestlé & General Mills, primarily supporting Global Cereal Innovation. The projects you manage in this role will provide you with technical depth and breadth, as well as cross-functional and global exposure.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop the ability to influence across organizations, advance technical possibilities, and develop leadership skills as a subject matter expert on a business team.
This role will also:
- Champion product quality from design through commercialization
- Connect and actively contribute to the global Cereal R&D team while representing R&D at the regional and global level
- Participate in global, regional, and functional meetings while developing a global cereal pipeline
- Occasional travel/visits are required to overseas business offices and factories. 4 to 6 trips overseas per year.
- Global meetings via Skype outside business hours.
- The role is based in Minneapolis, MN, with strong ties to the global R&D team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide product development leadership and support to CPW.
- Support development of a product pipeline that aligns with regional and global priorities.
- Champion consumer-first design principles
- Develop new and innovative products that meet customer & consumer needs while championing quality & food safety requirements.
- Champion food safety and product quality from product design through to production
- Understand and apply regional and global nutrition requirements to product development.
- Collaborate with Operations, Nestlé Procurement, and key suppliers to deliver to the plan.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in product development or applied science
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or Master’s degree in food science.
- Cultural and work style agility.
- Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and formula development.
- Robust critical thinking and communication skills with strong project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8-10 years of experience
- PhD in Food Science
- Fluency in another language is a plus
- Key functional / business skills:
- Proven Innovation experience
- Cereal extrusion knowledge/experience
- Innovative thinker, creative, willing to challenge established methods/beliefs
- Strong bias for action and the ability to influence business partners across levels and organizational functions
- Advance technical possibilities while championing remarkable solutions
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

- This role is open to relocation, but international relocation and remote assignments will not be considered.
