Veterinarian

Veterinarian Wanted – Competitive Salary. Three Days a Week. Christchurch, New Zealand. New Grads Welcome!

K9HQ veterinary practice based in Marshlands, Christchurch, is looking for an additional vet, (new grad or experienced) who wants real development, real support, and a working life that actually feels balanced. They are a very busy clinic, practicing good medicine with great people, offering a genuinely healthy working environment.

The team is close, supportive, and properly connected, the kind of place where people back each other, learn together, and don’t disappear on the tough days. Learning here doesn’t feel forced or formal; it happens naturally through exposure, mentorship, and being trusted to grow.

The role is built around sustainability: a three-day working week with a 1-in-3 (subject to change) weekend after-hours rota, in a clinic where sole charge is rare and support is always close by. It’s structured, safe, and designed to help vets grow without burning out in the process.

Why this place stands out.

* Strong focus on quality medicine including, health testing, reproduction, internal medicine and surgery.

* A genuinely varied caseload, with real opportunities to develop advanced surgical skills.

* High-quality ultrasound and radiography.

* A tight, bonded team culture with regular social events and real friendships.

The role.

It’s a mix of consultations and surgery, with space to develop into more advanced procedures over time. CPD is supported, uniforms are provided, and the culture actually matters.

They are a busy clinic with a large daily client flow, but the caseload is far from boring. A loyal, long-standing client base means vets see a constant mix of weird, wonderful and genuinely challenging cases that push skills, confidence and development. And despite the name K9HQ, it’s not just dogs, cats are very much part of the picture too!

Start date is as soon as possible, salary is experience based with flexibility for the right person, and sole charge is only in rare circumstances.

Life outside the clinic.

Based in Marshlands, Christchurch city centre, the lifestyle is a huge part of the appeal.

Christchurch gives you the best of both worlds, city convenience and wild, open space. Lakes, rivers, beaches, mountains and snowfields are all close enough to be part of normal life. Ski in winter, paddle in summer. Trails, rivers, coastlines and open space all year round. It’s the kind of place where work fits into life, not the other way around.

So, what’s next?

If you’re looking for a role where your voice matters, your growth is encouraged, and your life outside work is just as important as the care you provide inside the clinic, this could be the move that changes everything.

Forget the polished application; just reach out with whatever version of your CV you have on hand. We want to know the person, not just the paperwork.

Bring your passion, we’ll bring the support, the freedom, and the life you’ve been looking for
