Veterinary Surgeon

Veterinary Surgeon. Independent Team, Coastal location, Hoylake. The Wirral. From £37k per annum.

What if your next role gave you the clinical freedom you deserve, a genuinely supportive team, and the kind of lifestyle where finishing work could mean walking on the beach five minutes later?

Welcome to Hoylake Veterinary Surgery, a friendly, well-equipped, one-site practice where people actually enjoy coming to work. It’s a place where the team has your back, clients are valued, and personality counts just as much as experience.

At Hoylake Vets, you’ll genuinely get variety, not just in cases, but in how you work. One minute it’s a routine consult, the next you’re working up something more complex, followed by a bit of surgery, maybe an exotic or two (yes, reptiles, birds, the occasional wildcard). It keeps things interesting, and more importantly, it keeps you learning.

You won’t be left on your own to figure it all out either. This is a proper team setup. Very little sole charge, no out-of-hours, and people who actually talk to each other about cases. It’s collaborative, not chaotic.

This place has a real ‘family feel’ about it, where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. The beauty of being independent is that you aren’t micro-managed, there are no silly targets for vets, and no one telling you what to do from afar; the job is tough enough without adding additional stress!

The clinic itself is well kitted out, with X-ray, ultrasound, ECG, endoscopy, laparoscopy, full in-house lab, so when you want to investigate something properly, you can.

What you’ll be doing:

* A mix of consults, surgery, and case workups

* Looking after inpatients and seeing cases through

* The occasional house visit (when it genuinely makes sense)

* Getting involved with exotics alongside the usual small animal work

* Supporting students and helping others grow as you go

What matters here:

* You care about doing a good job

* You’re decent with people (clients and colleagues)

* You’re happy asking questions and sharing ideas

* You bring a bit of personality, not just a CV

Everything else can be developed.

You’ll get a great support package (RCVS, VDS, CPD, pension, private medical), and a competitive salary depending on where you’re at in your career.

The lifestyle bit.

You’re five minutes from the beach. There’s a park next door, great cafés, pubs, gyms and restaurants, and you’re close enough to Liverpool, Chester, North Wales and Manchester to make the most of your time off without living in the chaos of a big city.

It’s the kind of place where you can finish work, clear your head, and actually switch off.

So, what’s next?

If you've read this so far and something feels right, that's probably worth exploring. Please get in touch.

Forget the polished application; just reach out with whatever version of your CV you have on hand. We want to know the person, not just the paperwork.

Bring your passion and your talent; we’ll bring the support, the fun, and the coastal location

£37000 – £55000/annum CPD, All fees paid for, Healthcare
