Fetch Specialty and Emergency Veterinary Centers is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our emergency team in Brandon, FL

This is a full-time daytime position with 12-hour shifts, scheduled three days per week. Available shift options include:

  • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
  • 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM: Monday, Saturday, Sunday

***Sign-on Bonus ***

Shift Differentials:

Sunday – Thursday Night differential $4.00 (7:30p – 7:30a)

Friday/Saturday Night differential $6.00 (7:30p – 7:30a)

Saturday/Sunday Daytime differential $2.00 (7:30a – 7:30p)

As a family-owned emergency and specialty veterinary hospital, we offer advanced and specialized veterinary services to our guests and referring veterinarians. Our team of veterinary professionals provide compassionate care and exceptional guest service to our patients and guests alike. The Emergency Vet Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality care to pets in critically emergent situations. With the support of our experienced team you will have the opportunity to utilize and expand your skills and knowledge while making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We are one of the only facilities in the area that has mechanical ventilator, dialysis, and therapeutic plasma exchange capabilities. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to learn the most advanced therapies and practice the highest standard medicine.

A Emergency veterinary technician plays a critical role in emergency veterinary care, focusing on the initial assessment and prioritization of patients based on the severity of their condition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, required
  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT), preferred
  • Previous experience in specialty and/or emergency veterinary medicine, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical protocols and procedures
  • Excellent technical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Capacity to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Flexibility with working schedule, including availability for on-call, weekend shifts and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with other experienced nurses, assistants, doctors, and management to provide excellent care of the patients and our guests
  • Candidate must be detailed oriented and have Strategic/Forward/Critical Thinking 
  • Candidate must have the veterinary nurse skills as listed below:
    • Have nursing skills that include proper animal restraint, obtain vitals, anesthesia monitoring, intubation, catheter placement, phlebotomy, performing treatments, and administering medications
    • Able to monitor and care for patients using state of the art equipment and protocols
    • Have knowledge of anesthetic protocols, and ability to run anesthesia.
    • Have knowledge of running in house lab machines, sending lab samples out and positioning and taking radiographs
    • Have knowledge of triage and the ability to discuss estimates for diagnostics, procedures, and/or treatments with the clients
    • Ability to document and maintain medical records
    • Have sound knowledge of medical terminology, common disease processes and medical emergencies
    • Cleaning, stocking and helping to maintain proper care of the hospital equipment
    • Ability to provide thoughtful and compassionate communication with pet owners and referring veterinarians
