The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) utilizes their education, skill, and expertise to support patient care by performing routine clinical laboratory tests done in hematology, chemistry, immuno-hematology, microbiology, immunology and coagulation under COLA and CLIA standards and/or guidelines, then communicating results to the clinician (physician or APC) or other authorized clinical care staff. This position is primarily responsible for testing and analyzing a variety of specimens, as well as the clinical and operational management of all laboratory equipment, processes, and patient results communication. Pay for this position is $28.75-$37.39. 

Schedule
This position is for an every other weekend (or every 3rd weekend) MLT for open shifts, day or evening, at all sites.  The schedule will be determined based on current open shifts and applicant availability.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-year degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required; plus 2 years of experience in a hospital or health clinic laboratory setting
  • Familiar with calibration of laboratory equipment

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification as an MLT

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory procedures on blood, urine, and other body samples pursuant to tests ordered
  • Implement and follow a laboratory quality assurance and quality control plan in collaboration with the laboratory technical supervisor and laboratory manager
  • Order, result, and cancel tests in the electronic medical record with direction from the clinician or registered nurse
  • Restock and maintain appropriate laboratory inventory supply levels
  • Collect and record pertinent patient data needed for interpretation of laboratory tests
  • Communicate patient laboratory data clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner to the rest of the health care team
