Quality Inspector – 1st Shift – Hamilton

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-5pm

Job Summary:

The individual will be responsible for performing inspection on products at various stages of production to ensure that customer specifications are being met, company quality standards are followed and consistent with current ISO and safety requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Perform random in-process inspections to verify the specifications of the process are being maintained.

Perform first piece inspection upon completion of set-ups, where applicable.

Understand customer requirements as defined on the part drawing; be able to translate this information to operators/set-up personnel when an issue identified.

Know the options which are considered when making a disposition on nonconforming product, the importance of immediately notifying management and preventing the use of the product.

Know how to check the calibration status of measuring equipment on the factory floor and know the process for calibration at CMC.

Know how to source quality documentation (standard operating procedures, work instructions, process maps, et cetera) and other controlled documentation such as part drawings, inspection charts, et cetera within SAP/ local drive.

Assist in the maintenance and updates of inspection documentation. Know how to construct an inspection document from the part drawing. Identify where past problems for a part are noted on the shop order and inspection chart and update documentation on SAP, where applicable to make factory floor personnel aware of past issues.

Become familiar with the processes of quality hold, in-process rejection (IPR), material review board (MRB) and internal corrective action.

Assists with quality training to ensure all employees are educated on proper techniques to adhere to quality requirements and processes.

Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Required Qualifications:

Individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily and meet the physical demands to successfully perform the essential function of this job. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or physical ability required.

Education and/or Experience High School Diploma/GED must be able to perform basic reading, writing and mathematical functions and prior experience reading manual calipers. Employee should be familiar with current ISO requirements and with engineering drawings.

Language Skills Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and written.

Mathematical Skills Basic mathematical skills are required. Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements – Required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Required to bend, stoop and lift up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
