Pay Range: $17.00–$18.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | Full-Time
Looking to start your career in science or engineering? Join our Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Group as an Entry-Level R&D Technician and gain hands-on experience working on innovative glass, coated glass, and functional device technologies. Position Summary
As an R&D Technician, you will support the development and commercialization of glass products and manufacturing processes through hands-on lab work and testing. You'll work independently and in teams to plan, execute, and analyze experiments, contributing directly to research outcomes and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities

Safely execute experiments in lab and occasionally in manufacturing environments

Perform tests on coated and non-coated glass samples (e.g., chemical durability, optical properties)

Operate lab instruments such as spectrophotometers, electrical probes, ellipsometers, and microscopes

Collect, analyze, and document experimental data using lab notebooks and spreadsheets

Contribute to the development of new test methods and custom lab tools

Participate in plant trials or surveys at production or customer facilities as needed

Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety protocols

Communicate progress and results clearly to project leaders and scientists
Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science

Strong interest in hands-on lab work and problem-solving

Basic understanding of experimental procedures and lab safety

Ability to analyze data, write technical summaries, and follow detailed protocols

Comfortable working independently and within cross-functional teams

Strong communication skills and willingness to learn new skills and technologies

Experience with lab equipment and/or fabrication of functional devices is a plus
