The Department of Neurology is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our Neuromuscular Program. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, patient-centered research in a dynamic academic medical environment.

 

Position Overview:
The Research Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of clinical research studies focused on neuromuscular disorders. This includes managing study start-up, protocol implementation, subject recruitment, data collection, regulatory submissions, and compliance oversight. The role will also involve working closely with clinical staff, study sponsors, and partner sites for multi-center trials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate study start-up activities and implement research protocols

Train and support clinical staff in study procedures

Identify and recruit eligible patients and/or surrogates

Conduct informed consent and data collection activities

Process and securely store research data and specimens

Prepare and maintain IRB submissions, amendments, and approvals

Monitor study compliance and report adverse events

Maintain regulatory documents, personnel logs, and study tracking tools

Collaborate with sponsors and other research sites

Assist with study budgeting and financial tracking

Collect basic clinical quality metrics as required

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a health-related or scientific field required

Master’s degree in a health-related or scientific field preferred

Prior experience in clinical research preferred

Human Subjects Protection training preferred (e.g., CITI certification)

Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment

Willingness to work flexible hours depending on study needs

Ability to travel occasionally for site visits or training sessions
