Position Overview
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is actively recruiting a Supervisor II – Laboratory (Auto-Chemistry) for a dynamic, full-time opportunity in DeLand, FL. This key leadership position is ideal for a credentialed and licensed laboratory professional with strong technical and supervisory experience in auto-chemistry and clinical laboratory operations.
The Supervisor II oversees day-to-day operations of the Core Lab, guiding teammates through technical workflows and ensuring compliance with laboratory standards, safety, quality benchmarks, and regulatory protocols. This role also provides direct support for team development, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

Supervise sample processing through result reporting while ensuring optimal workflow and specimen quality.

Monitor performance benchmarks, enforce service standards, and identify opportunities for process improvements across lab functions.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA, OSHA) and support laboratory accreditation readiness.

Participate in coverage of work benches during high-volume or staffing challenges.
Team Oversight & Staff Development

Lead, mentor, and manage laboratory technologists and support staff.

Conduct performance appraisals, coach teammates, and facilitate career growth and professional development.

Oversee hiring, scheduling, disciplinary actions, and staffing plans in collaboration with the Lab Manager.

Maintain competency records and training documentation in line with internal policy and regulatory mandates.
Compliance & Quality Assurance

Drive the lab's participation in quality improvement initiatives, incident reporting, and proficiency testing programs.

Collaborate with laboratory leadership on SOP development, regulatory compliance, and audit preparedness.

Promote a safety-first culture and adherence to biosafety procedures.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or related field.

Florida Supervisor License in Chemistry

Minimum 6–8 years of laboratory experience, including prior supervisory or technical lead responsibilities.

Certification through a national laboratory certifying agency (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent).

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with an ability to motivate high-performing teams.
